Michiko was inspired by the healing power of acupuncture when she faced her own health issues and difficulties in her personal life. Acupuncture treatments along with yoga and meditation helped alleviate her condition tremendously and motivated her to help others in the same way. Mindful, patient-centered acupuncture is her philosophy, which allows her to integrate different modalities, including her primary method of Japanese-style acupuncture, in her painless and gentle treatment options.
Her special interest is care for pre- and post-menopausal women (and men) who undergo various changes in life that can result in negative symptoms, both physical and emotional.
She also has a passion for helping underprivileged people in developing countries and volunteered at a clinic in a rural village in Nepal (Bajrabarahi) via a nonprofit organization (Acupuncture Relief Project) in March-April 2023 to help extremely underprivileged patients. More info about her volunteer work in Nepal is available at her blog. She also has been volunteering at the Hope Lodge run by the American Cancer Society, Inc. and New York Harm Reduction Educators.

She received an M.A. in Media Studies and worked as a writer & journalist for various media outlets in Japan and the U.S. before becoming a doctor of acupuncture and earning acupuncture licenses in NY and NJ States.
Michiko continues her studies of medicine with a passion to increase the store of knowledge to better serve patients and produce positive results.
Gipeum Lee, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
(Joy) Gipeum Lee is a national board-certified licensed acupuncturist in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. After earning her masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Gipeum studied counseling for five years. She believes that emotional wellness is tied to physical health and that unaddressed emotional imbalances can impact the physical body. She takes a holistic treatment approach and considers the whole person to uncover the root cause of the symptoms. Gipeum treats acute and chronic pain, headaches and migraines, stress and anxiety, allergies, insomnia, gastrointestinal symptoms, women’s health, and more. She utilizes different modalities including auricular acupuncture, electroacupuncture, nutritional counseling, as well as cupping therapy and trigger point therapy to release muscle tension. With a caring heart and compassionate touch, Gipeum is dedicated to helping patients begin their healing journey.
Izra Serrantes
Assistant to Dr. Michiko Yoshifuji
Izra is responsible for administrative work at the clinic. Currently, she is studying at Pacific College of Health and Science and is working towards a Master’s degree in Acupuncture. Izra has been working as a figure skating coach in New York City since 2010 and is looking to specialize in pain management and sports injury for both the prevention and healing of injuries. In addition to working with athletes, she is interested in women’s health, especially in treating menstrual irregularities and PMS/PMDD. Before pursuing her acupuncture degree, she received a BFA in Fabric Styling and an AAS in Textile Development and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2016.
Kazue Kiyono

Kazue Kiyono is a marketing specialist and customer support professional based in NYC, with extensive experience in the healthcare industry. Graduating from prestigious colleges in both Tokyo and New York, she leverages her fluent bilingualism to provide marketing support and Japanese-English translation services for a diverse clientele in Japan and the US. Kazue has a rich background in healthcare, having worked at a prominent physical therapy clinic and a massage salon in Manhattan.
Her experience spans various aspects of healthcare administration, including insurance verification, billing, and patient scheduling. Kazue's comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations and best practices has made her a valuable asset in optimizing clinic workflows and enhancing patient satisfaction. Her background in music performance has also led to appearances as a vocalist at iconic venues including Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall.
